About Pain Axis Research Institute (PARI)

About Us

Founded in 2023, Pain Axis Research Institute is a nonprofit organization led by Aaron Michael Buch, our chairman. We are dedicated to advancing the understanding of pain—both physical and mental. Our focus is on research across a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions, including orthopedics, spine, and back/neck pain. Our mission is to bring together leading experts and utilize cutting-edge technology to explore the complexities of pain, ultimately aiming to improve patient outcomes.

Why We Chose the Name “Pain Axis”

The name “Pain Axis” reflects our approach to pain research, emphasizing the various pathways and dimensions from which pain can arise. “Axis” represents the central point where our efforts to understand pain converge. We recognize that pain is a complex experience, influenced by physical, psychological, and emotional factors. By examining these different axes, we aim to develop comprehensive and effective strategies for understanding and improving pain.

Our Team

Our board of trustees consists of a diverse group of professionals, including physicians, pain specialists, and researchers. This team is complemented by numerous musculoskeletal practices and advisors with extensive experience in treating chronic pain. Together, they bring a wealth of knowledge and insight into the unique challenges of pain management, guiding our research and organizational objectives.

Our Approach to Pain Research

Pain Axis Research Institute is committed to exploring pain from all angles. We believe that understanding the broader impact of chronic pain—from its effects on relationships to workplace challenges—is essential to developing effective solutions. The fragmented U.S. healthcare system, with its many electronic medical record (EMR) and electronic health record (EHR) systems, creates barriers to effective pain management. Our nonprofit is dedicated to overcoming these obstacles through patient interviews, data analysis, and advanced technologies like machine learning and AI.

Our Mission

Our mission is to redefine how pain is understood and managed. Through our research, we aim to create a comprehensive understanding of pain, integrating patient outcomes, data, and experiences to inform better practices. By focusing on the entire spectrum of pain, Pain Axis Research Institute seeks to make a lasting impact on patient care and contribute to a future where pain is no longer misunderstood or overlooked.

Join us on our journey to navigate the various axes of pain, collaborating with experts and leveraging innovative technologies to bring about meaningful change in the field of pain research.
